Angie Melton Wooton - Durant - OK 12/31/1987
Graveside service for Angie Melton Wooton, 79, who died Wednesday in the Durant Hospital, will be at 4 p.m. toady at Highland Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Parsons officiating. Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wooton was born Feb. 19, 1908, in Durant. A lifelong Durant resident, she was a housewife and a member of the Nazarene church in Durant. She married Isaac W. Wooton Dec. 23, 1931, in Durant, and he died Oct. 8, 1958.
Surviving are two daughters, Anna Abbott of Jackson, Ga., Jewel Pope of Durant; two brothers, H. B. Melton of Albuquerque, N.M., John Melton of Calera; two sisters, Mary Frances Foster of Albuquerque, Edna Cotton of Wewoka, Okla,; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Calanthe Melton - Durant, OK
Funeral for Calanthe L Melton, 87, who died Thursday in a Durant hospital, will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Durant. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home.
Mrs. Melton was born, June 5, 1895, in Central, SC, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Davis. She came to Durant in 1911 and married Roland Melton Dec 6, 1927. He died June 27, 1978. she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Roland Jr., Dimmitt; a daughter, Elizabeth Schmidhamer, Almagarda, N.M.; one grandson; two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8.

MRS. DAISY MELTON, died Friday in a local hospital. She was 90. Services will be at the First Christian church. Mrs. MELTON was born March 27, 1877 in Maben, Miss. she had lived in Bryan Co. since 1893. Survivors include three sons, Roland, Durant, John Lee, Lanke Charles, LA., and Dr. Howard B. of Roswell, N.M.; five daughters, Mrs. Ruby INGRAM, Richardson, TX, Mrs. Edna COTTON, Weweka, Mrs. Lillian COOPER, Durant, Mrs. Mary Frances FOSTER, Albuquerque, N.M. and Mrs. Anzie WOOTEN, Durant; a brother, W.Z. PHILLIPS, Tulsa and Mrs. Mary Ella RUTHERFORD, Paris, TX (Durant Weekly News, Nov. 12, 1967)

GILBERT MELTON, aged 69 yrs. and a Durant pioneer, passed away Friday afternoon. The deceased had lived in Durant for more than 30 yrs. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Mrs M.S. INGRAM, Mrs, O.B. COLTON, Mrs F.H. COOPER, Miss Mary Frances MELTON, Durant, Mrs. I.W. WOOTEN, Bokchito. Three sons, Roland MELTON, H.B. MELTON, Durant, J.L. MELTON, Savoy, Texas. four brothers, J.S. MELTON, Durant, Dallas MELTON, Savoy, TX, J.M. MELTON, Dallas, and Lee MELTON, Louistown, Miss. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church here. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. OPAL W MELTON died on Tuesday, March 7, 1989, at 1:20 pm. Mother of Dorothy Burchfield, Joseph A Melton, and the late Betty Anderson and John Lee Melton, Jr. Sister of Jean Little. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and a host of nieces and great-grandchildren. Age 80 years. A native of Sherman, TX and a resident of St. Bernard Parish, LA for the past 3 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Holme, 3710 Paris Road, Chalmette, LA on Thursday, March 9, 1989, at 1:30 pm. Baptist service in the parlor. Interment Reggio Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 AM on Thursdday until funeral time. (The Times-Picayune, Wednesday, March 8, 1989)
