Looking for GROVES VINSON (Vincent). He was in the 1812-1814 detached troops of Mecklenburg Co, NC. His son m. Martha McQuiston b. c1815 in TN or NC. This son must have d. as Martha Vincent m. 8/31/1848 Union Co, NC to Zachariah Parker (bondsman Thomas Vincent). Martha & Elizabeth on 1850 Union Co Census #277. One known child, Sarah Elizabeth Vinson b. 1841. (I have a note she wrote in 1909 that is in a cream pitcher that has been passed down to youngest girl each generation stating "Pitcher from Groves Vinson b. 1700s Ireland. Pitcher is 160 years old. Mrs J.W.Osborne" [Sarah Elizabeth Vinson]) Groves Vinson (Vincent) was living in Anson, Co NC or on the border of Mecklenburg & Anson Co, NC as found in the John Osborn diary 1819-1821 John Osborne Diaries (many names of friends and neighbors listed) Any info would be greatly appreciated. This family first showed up in TN for 1820 Census in White Co. TN, 1830 and 1840 they were in White Co, TN and McMinn Co, TN. Some of the family stayed in TN Others went West to different states. I am trying to trace Doctor PHILIP VINCENT b. 2/7/1858 Camborne, Cornwall, Eng. Philip was one of 9 children of Philip and Jessie VINCENT. He immigrated to the USA in 1881 or slightly before. He was registered as a Doctor in Actua mills, Watertown, Mass on 7/28/1881. He was later at 98 Maple St, Waltham, Mass. He appears to have served the Cunard shipping line as Medical officer. Any information on Philip is sought and will be distributed to other members of his extended family in New Zealand.
